Depression can be a secondary symptom to other health conditions, and an indication of deeper imbalances. In many cases, nutritional deficiencies are the foundation of the condition and require immediate attention. In other cases, there can be dysfunction in the nervous system which causes fluctuations in the mental and emotional state. Additional causes may be hormonal, due to oppressive circumstances, or improper lifestyle, eating and sleeping habits.
