Effective herbal remedies with proven [Ayurvedic] dietary guidelines

In the early stages, there is an acidic or a strong sour taste in the mouth which is a sign of a Pitta (heat/digestive "fire") disorder usually indicating high Pitta in the small intestines. Other related symptoms for this condition can include indigestion, belching, nausea, vomiting, burning sensation in the throat or chest, headaches, itching, rashes and pimples.

This is a common Pitta body-type condition caused by high Pitta and often includes excess body heat, high thirst and diarrhea.  Vata acidity is caused more due to variable and inconstant digestion with a feeling of weakness, sensations of pins and needles, fainting and chest pain. When this condition is Kapha caused, there is usually low digestive fire (Agni) and low stomach acids initially with symptoms such as thick phlegm in the mouth, heaviness, fatigue, loss of appetite, coldness and sleeping longer. Other common causes include stomach bacteria (i.e. H. Pylori) or a malfunctioning intestinal valve (lower esophageal sphincter). Some factors include obesity, slow stomach emptying, weak muscular contractions in the esophagus, excess exercise, pregnancy, smoking, certain hormones, many common foods, and some medications.  Understanding the cause is critical for an effective treatment.

The protocol

The protocol includes a Pitta pacifying diet with proper food combining guidelines, an after-meal Ayurvedic herbal formula (an antacid like formula) and an anti-inflammatory intestinal tea.  Generally, the condition improves rapidly with proper eating habits and the right diet supported by bitter, cooling, anti-acid and demulcent herbs.  Liver detoxification is often necessary and a herbal colonic purgation (virechana) will provide lasting relief by lower Pitta in the small intestines.  However, most cases will find immediate relief with dietary changes and the right herbal tea between meals. In the case, of bacterial infection a completely different approach is taken using antimicrobial and antibacterial herbs and immune system support.

Therapy requires one private consultations (in Ojai, CA or by Zoom) plus herbal products.
