Acne & Skin Inflammation Support
Internal and external treatments are most effective.
An Ayurvedic Approach
Excess digestive heat and acidity is one of the most common yet fully manageable digestive conditions. According to Ayurvedic and naturopathic principles, this condition can be effectively addressed through internal cooling, proper dietary guidelines, herbal formulas, and improved elimination.
Excess acidity is traditionally seen as a sign of digestive imbalance, where Pitta (the fire element) is aggravated and burns too hot—often due to poor food combining, overuse of pungent/spicy foods, irregular eating, or stress. When this heat overwhelms the stomach and intestines, it can result in a cascade of symptoms from acid reflux to skin irritation.
Appointments are available by Zoom. Herbal products are mailed after the consultation.
Understanding the Condition
In Ayurveda, acidity is typically linked to excess Pitta dosha, particularly in the stomach and small intestine. The imbalance may also involve Vata (irregular digestion, gas, lightheadedness) or Kapha (sluggishness, heaviness, mucus).
Common contributing factors include:
Overeating, snacking between meals, or poor food combining
Spicy, sour, oily, or fried foods
Chronic stress, irregular sleep, or emotional imbalance
Weak digestive fire (Agni) or liver congestion
Use of antacids or acid-suppressing medications
Gut infections like H. pylori
From a traditional perspective, the key to relief lies in restoring digestive balance—by cooling the system, improving digestion, and supporting proper elimination and liver function.
The Ayurvedic Protocol
The Ayurvedic approach encompasses internal detoxification, external skincare routines, and targeted dietary and lifestyle modifications to mitigate excess heat and toxins in the body. A general cooling and cleansing diet is often recommended, with adjustments made based on an individual's constitution and symptoms. Based on the individual’s condition, recommended herbal formulas may include:
Skin Detox Tea – cooling and blood-cleansing
Liver Detox Formula – traditionally used to reduce liver heat
Colon Formula or Colon Tea – to support regular elimination
Skin Healing Tea with Neem or Skin Allergy Formula – for more chronic or allergy-related cases
For hormonal acne: Female Hormonal Balance Tea or Female Health Formula
Natural skin care guidance using household ingredients is also provided as part of the external care plan.
