Overview:
The main objective of this course is to understand the attributes (gunas), actions (karma) and taste (rasa) of most vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts, and other food items, and learn to form diets to therapeutically address specific health conditions (ahara chikitsa). Additionally, we will study 50 of the most common traditional ayurvedic herbs, and simple formulas to address doshic imbalances and the subdoshas. Participants will role-play daily to practice prescribing dietary and herbal formulas [based on the herbs covered in the lessons each day].

This course uses products by Vaidyaratnam and students will travel together to the Vaidyaratnam headquarters outside Fort Kochi and visit their museum and hospital, and speak with management and some of the head doctors. Vaidyaratnam Oushadhasala (Oushada means medicine and Sala is a building or institute) was instituted in 1941. Overview:
You will study the most popular classical formulations as outlined in the ancient Ayurvedic texts and learn to make herb formulas based on the Ayurvedic principles of combining herbs “Bhaisajya Kalpanaa”. Khabir adheres to the authentic methodologies, so you will be trained in the most traditional art of Ayurvedic formulation making.
You will learn to formulate simple herbal formulas using 50 of the most common ayurvedic herbs to address doshic imbalances of the doshas, digestion (agni), ama (toxins), the tissues (dhatus) and systems (srotomsi) of the body. Requirements:Before taking this workshop the student should have a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of Ayurveda, including knowledge the tri-doshic system, sub-doshas, gunas (qualities), dhatus (tissues), srotomsi (systems), agni (digestive fire & power of transformation), ojas (immunity, vitality and inner strength) and ama (toxins and undigested food/waste)--as well as other essential aspects of anatomy and functionality of the body as per Ayurveda. It is highly recommended to take the first course before attending this course unless strong prior knowledge of the Ayurvedic fundamentals exists.

Overview: This course covers the three modes of diagnosis as per Ayurveda: Observation of the skin, eyes, shape & tongue (Darshana) ; touching the skin and organs and reading the pulse ( Sparshana) ; & questioning skills of the patient (Prashana).

The objective of this course is give the student the practical knowledge and hands-on experience in a wide range of diagnostic skills and methods since accuratediagnosis skills are required to effectively to treat any disease, even within ourselves.

Teachings are based on classical teachings and not westernized but simplified without much use of sanskrit except for essential words.
