Allergies (Skin, Food & Respiratory) Support
Allergies can be effectively managed through traditional Ayurvedic herbal treatments.
An Ayurvedic Approach
Allergic reactions are increasingly common today, but can be addressed naturally by supporting the immune system, improving digestion, and restoring balance using time-tested Ayurvedic principles. Herbal treatments are well capable of managing allergies when tailored to the individual’s constitution and specific symptoms. With proper support, it is possible to reduce or eliminate allergic sensitivity significantly over time.
Appointments are available by Zoom. Herbal products are mailed after the consultation.
Understanding the Condition
In Ayurveda, allergies are seen as a sign of internal imbalance—especially involving weak digestion, toxic buildup, and a hypersensitive nervous system. They often arise in individuals who are nutritionally depleted, under stress, or exposed to a poor diet and environmental irritants. The root cause is usually traced to low digestive fire (agni), which allows toxins (ama) to accumulate and disrupt immune function.
Common allergy triggers may include:
Environmental substances (pollen, dust, mold, chemicals)
Foods (wheat, dairy, fermented products, etc.)
Stress and nervous system hyperactivity
Digestive weakness or liver overload
Ayurveda identifies different types of allergic responses based on the three doshas:
Vata-type allergies involve sneezing, gas, bloating, dry cough, or wheezing. These may include digestive discomfort, insomnia, and cold sensitivity.
Pitta-type allergies involve inflammation, redness, skin rashes, itching, food sensitivities, and burning sensations in the eyes or stomach.
Kapha-type allergies include congestion, sinus pressure, heavy digestion, fatigue, and excess mucus in the respiratory tract.
Rather than just masking symptoms, the Ayurvedic approach focuses on correcting the root imbalance through detoxification, immune support, and improved digestion.
The Ayurvedic Protocol
The allergy support protocol begins by strengthening digestion and clearing accumulated toxins from the body. A customized, cleansing and dosha-balancing diet is recommended to reduce toxic buildup and improve immune response. Proper food combining is emphasized to avoid internal fermentation and allergic reactions.
General immune and respiratory support is provided through selected Ayurvedic herbal formulas, with a focus on cooling, cleansing, and calming the body. Depending on your symptoms and constitution, recommendations may include:
Allergy Tea – for mild respiratory and seasonal allergy support
Skin Allergy Formula – for Pitta-type skin-related allergies
Respiratory Allergy Formula – for Kapha/Vata-type sinus, chest, or pollen reactions
Liver Detox Formula – to reduce internal heat and clear the blood
Colon Formula or Colon Tea – to promote regular elimination
Immune Tonic – for rebuilding deeper immune strength over time
A general cleanse or digestive reset may be recommended to support better absorption and reduce hypersensitivity. All recommendations are customized during the appointment.
